Anchor Barre Fitness & Wellness Studio is a boutique fitness and wellness center offering a variety of empowering fitness classes and inspiring workshops. From signature Anchor Barre to Buti® Yoga, POUND® to Vinyasa Yoga, and more, we have the classes you need. Our studio welcomes clients of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and fitness levels who are looking to feel more grounded, calm and connected through movement. About Our Fitness Staff
Owner and instructor, Melynda Gates, has combined her background in teaching and her passion for movement and music to create a space that facilitates challenging workouts in a calming and encouraging environment. The mission at our studio is to provide our clients with a place to let go of all their "stuff" from the day and find a moment to themselves to connect, sweat, and strengthen – physically, mentally, and emotionally – ultimately becoming more, well…anchored.
About 6 years ago, Melynda was searching for a new fitness outlet when she was introduced to barre by fellow instructor Caitlin Dermody. After one class, she was sure that she had found something special. She was drawn to the connection between fitness and mindfulness, something she had never experienced before when taking classes. Melynda took all the classes she could fit into her busy schedule, trying to balance her job and two kids with her new love of barre. A year later, she became Mind Body Barre, and POUND® certified so that she could share her love of barre with others. She is so excited to join the Anchor Barre crew!

Kimberly began her fitness journey and love affair with barre as a client at Mind Body Barre in 2011. After just a few classes, Kimberly realized that she had found so much more than a typical fitness class. She had found a way to fuse her love of dance and music with a practice that goes beyond physical movement to encourage mental and emotional well-being within an empowering and supportive community.
In 2013, after a couple of years using barre classes as a tool to help work through personal challenges and battle depression, Kimberly became certified as a Mind Body Barre instructor. She went on to expand her love of combining fitness and fun by becoming certified in Poundfit®, Zumba®, CIZE™ Live, BUTI® Yoga, and BUTI® Sculpt.
In 2017, Kimberly felt compelled to expand the reach of the mind/body fitness approach, and thus Anchor Barre Business & Wellness Studio was born. Kimberly is currently an ACE® Group certified instructor and is a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher. A true believer that movement is the best medicine, Kimberly continues to find new methods for herself and her clients to have fun with movement in ways that lead to being happier, healthier, and more grounded – body, mind, and soul.
Darah has always had a love for fitness. She began dance at the age of three and has not stopped moving her body since then. Scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2019, Darah attends Bridgewater State University, where she studies Elementary Education and Dance Education. In the spring of 2016, Darah attended her first BUTI Yoga class and fell in love. In February 2017, Darah became BUTI® Yoga certified and began teaching courses at BSU in the dance studios. When an opportunity to teach at Anchor Barre arose, she jumped without hesitation. Anchor Barre and BUTI® Yoga continue to open so many doors for Darah. Her journey is only just beginning, and she is forever grateful.
Caitlin has always had a love for physical activity. After doing gymnastics as a child, Caitlin enjoyed competing in soccer, basketball, softball, cheerleading, and tennis throughout high school and college. She always felt better when she was physically active, so as an adult, Caitlin struggled with her fitness journey once she no longer had the outlet of team sports (she prefers not to run unless someone is chasing her).
When Caitlin began taking barre classes in 2013, she was hooked. In the spring of 2014, Caitlin became certified as a Mind Body Barre instructor and Poundfit® Pro. In 2017, Caitlin was lucky enough to join the Anchor Barre crew. She is a big believer in the mind/body fitness approach and hopes everyone leaves her classes feeling stronger, lighter, and happier.
Kelsey is a 9-year former dancer and athlete who fell in love with barre about 5 years ago.
She loved the way the practice of barre combines both her love for dance and fitness. She fell in love with barre after one class and knew that spreading the message of barre and becoming an instructor was something she was intended to do. She decided to take her barre practice to the next level in 2019 when she completed her Mind Body Barre® instructor certification. Kelsey is a licensed mental health counselor and loves teaching her patients about the importance of movement and mindfulness.
She is a single mom who enjoys spending time with her 5-year-old daughter, Brooklynne, and her Bichon Poodle, Charlie. Kelsey is in the process of becoming a Second degree Reiki Practitioner and will also be pursuing her 200-RYT in the fall. This is just the beginning of Kelsey’s journey, and she is excited about sharing her love with barre, mindfulness, and fitness with you!
Meaghan has always loved movement and has explored many different forms from the time she was very young. She began dancing at 5 years old and continued dance through college with a few years on a competition team. After college Meaghan took up running as a hobby and a way to keep moving, which turned into many years of races and completing the Boston Marathon in 2017. She discovered Anchor Barre in 2018 and immediately fell in love with the way each class connected both mind and body, and she kept going back for more, loving how empowered each class made her feel. After years of personal struggles, Meaghan used this new love for yoga and mindfulness to help her get sober in March of 2018, and she is so grateful for the role that Anchor Barre played in that journey. Wanting to take the next step into the world of fitness, Meaghan became Anchor Barre certified in the fall of 2019 and loves the energy that comes along with teaching classes. In addition, she is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher, 11:11 The Practice Levels 1 & 3 certified, and part of the Kick It! by Eliza Fempire. She hopes to see you on your mat soon!
Ashley Pacheco Guilmette
Hola! Meet resident Zumba® instructor, Ashley. Dance has been a huge part of her life ever since she was young. From tutus and ballet slippers to choreographed routines on the balance beam, this form of exercise has always fed her soul. In college, she was captain of a hip-hop dance team that performed at Celtics games, competitions, other universities, and at numerous events in Boston. After graduating, she missed dance so much until she discovered Zumba®! In addition to dance, Ashley is also very passionate about world cultures, languages, and travel. Naturally, she fell even more in love with Zumba® because of its international flavor. Ashley is grateful that Zumba® has afforded her the opportunity to keep dancing. She invites everyone to come relieve some stress by getting lost in the music and movement of Zumba®. You do not need to know how to dance-just follow her lead, dance it out, and you will have a blast and burn lots of calories!
Brittney is a certified Buti Yoga instructor with a background in athletics and dance. She started her fitness journey after the birth of her daughter in 2015 and found her passion upon discovering Buti Yoga. Brittney loves how Buti includes Cardio, Tribal Dance, strength, and conditioning, all combined into a primal dynamic yoga flow. She loves how Buti Yoga empowers women to love each other, themselves, and embrace how their bodies move. She is now studying to go further into her Yoga Practice and becoming a Personal Trainer and is also certified to teach Buti Sculpt, Hot Buti, Buti Bands, TRX & Cardio Sport.
Jeanna is a former dancer who started at the age of 2 and continued the journey of dance throughout college. She was part of multiple competition teams and loved to experience the different styles that dance had to offer. Jeanna loves attending group fitness classes and after taking her first barre class, she knew it was exactly what she was looking for. The technique and style of barre classes brought her back to what she loved about dance. Jeanna decided to take this passion to the next level and became Anchor Barre certified in the fall of 2020 and has been teaching weekly classes at Anchor Barre since. Seeing the empowerment and strength in others while taking these classes, is something she loves to experience every class.
Lauren Weigold fell in love with barre about 7 years ago. It started an obsession with group fitness and finding classes that were challenging yet fun, and involved a great community. She loves barre specifically because its low impact, meaning its inclusive to so many, and can be safe enough to do during pregnancy and post partum. Anchor Barre was the first place she brought her son for a Mommy and me Barre! In 2019 she decided to get certified as an instructor and started teaching a few months later. In April of 2020, she also got certified in Kick It! By Eliza. She is a stay at home mom who has 2 kids and loves the flexibility of teaching group fitness classes. She cannot wait to share her passion of group fitness and make you feel confident on your mat!
One-on-One Service Providers & Affiliates
Angela graduated from the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in 2011 and had kept a strong personal yoga practice preceding massage school. She has always had a passion for combining manual and movement therapies, and after completing her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Open Doors of Weymouth her massage therapy practice continued to evolve. Angela holds certifications in Traditional Thai Massage and is also a second level Reiki practitioner. Angela has experience in multiple massage modalities and enjoys customizing the best treatment plan for each individual client. Her goal is to offer Thai massage as a way to complement and enhance clients’ fitness and wellness routines. Visit our Client Services page to find out more about Angela's services.
Alaina received a Certificate in Wellness Coaching from CoachTraining EDU, which is accredited by the ICF (International Coaching Federation). Having grown up dancing, movement and physical expression have always been important to Alaina. As an adult, she has studied meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and has also been certified to teach Kick It by Eliza. Her focus has been on developing trust in one’s body and establishing balance in nutrition, fitness, and wellness practices. She was drawn to coaching to help others realize the power in their own truth.
For over thirteen years, Amy has been a resource to humans, professionally and personally; with her two favorite humans being her daughters Danica and Jordana. They are her inspiration and have helped Amy recognize the importance of a healthy work/life balance. She embarked on a holistic wellness journey in 2018 and became Reiki Level 1 certified. Falling in love with the healing energies and the mindfulness of meditation, Amy continued her practice and became a certified Reiki Level 2 practitioner in 2020 and a certified Mindfulness Facilitator in 2021. Amy has embraced the mind/body connection, recognized the need to honor all facets of the human experience, and the desire to help others realign their mind, body, and spirit.

Santina fell in love with photography when she took her first photography class her freshman year of high school (back when they taught you how to develop 35mm film). If she was ever not in class she could be found in the dark room developing her photos from the previous days adventures. Since then she has taken countless courses in photography. She graduated with her Associates Degree in Graphic Design in 2013, which she focused highly in photography, even doing her apprenticeship as a second wedding shooter her final year. She has worked as a sports photographer and will always be found carrying her camera gear on any hiking or outdoor adventures. She has been doing wedding and family photography with Shellet Photography since 2016 and has also recently joined Tillett Studios in Pawtucket, RI to offer a personalized studio experience to anyone who wants to pull their inner beauty out into a fun and carefree photo session.
